Release Notes

First CodePlex release of AgFx.

This release has some breaking changes from the bits that were posted on MSDN Code Gallery, see below:

Feature Adds

  • DataManager now has a Save method that allows pushing objects into the cache
  • DataManager now has an Invalidate method to expire an object's cache without causing a load
  • Added PhoneApplicationFrameEx to the Controls project, which has a HeaderContent property (for something like a progress bar) and a PopupContent property (for login UI, etc.)
  • TextBoxEx exposes a CurrentText property that fires change notifications with each KeyUp
  • LoginModel, LoginDataLoader, LoginContext provide basics of using AgFx to handle credentials

Breaking Changes

Breaking changes since Blog/Samples Gallery Release:
  • VisibilityConverter and StringFormatConverter were moved from AgFx to AgFx.Converters namespace
  • NotifyPropertyChangedBase.AddDependentProperty("MainProperty", "DependentProperty") has been deprecated. Now place {[DependentOnProperty("MainProperty")]} attribute onto DependentProperty's declaration.
  • LoadContext no longer has a Parameters property.

Reviews for this release

I'm loving this framework and look forward to following up on new releases. This framework makes data loading in Windows Phone 7 A LOT easier.

AgFx simplifies many of the complex aspects of managing/caching and tombstoning data in a WP7 application. It provides a clean pattern for managing even complex nested types with summary/detail scenarios using RegisterProxy
